Last week, Halloween was rapidly approaching and once again, I was without a costume. I always seem to come up with something last minute, but this year I was really struggling. Thankfully, I’m subscribed to SEOmoz and get an email with their daily blog post. If you haven’t already, check them out. SEOmoz provides tools and software to rank better in search engines. And they have a lot of fun doing it. Recently, they have been doing a weekly feature called “Whiteboard Fridays”.
So on Friday, I get their email and blog post called Scary SEO Mishaps. Jen Lopez led the charge this time. I almost didn’t open the email and watch it because of time constraints. Luckily, I did. While watching it, looking at all the wacky character drawings and listening to all the odd sounds, the idea hits me! A Walking Whiteboard!
Simple enough. And creative. What a way to interact with others on Halloween! I run (no, I actually drove) to the local Wal-Mart, picked up a few materials, slapped some white poster boards on a box I had laying around, and I was good to go! It was a tight fit over my head, but I managed. Of course, I gave SEOmoz credit for the inspiration…
I did have to blur some stuff out. A couple phone numbers and some inappropriate drawings and words. No comments on @seomoz though. I was surprised.
I’m not sure what I would have done if I hadn’t watched that video. Probably sun glasses and a wig. This was much more fun and shared some good conversations with all sorts of people. Thanks SEOmoz. You’ll never know how much you inspire outside of search engines. 🙂
I feel like this idea was pretty unique. Anyone else see a similar costume?
