There’s been a lot of buzz about the new Facebook layout and timeline. I finally enabled the new timeline through the developer release. In doing so, it looks like the public release of the new Facebook timeline and profile is October 6.
Update: Obviously, the new template hasn’t been released yet to the public. At one point, there was some conflict with a lawsuit. I also believe Facebook is making sure they get it right with this rollout. The update rearranges users profile pages significantly.
This was the message displayed on my profile page as I was editing the new profile layout.

Of course I hit publish now. I’m not waiting a whole week! And of course Facebook let me know just developers could see my newly enabled Facebook profile and timeline.

First it was expected to launch on 30th September. I don’t know why Facebook delayed the launch of timeline, maybe they are still working on some issues.

FB delayed official launch due to being sued by a Chicago-based company that creates similar “timelines”
I wonder how long it will be now?
Thanks for the dimensions!!

Thanks for the updates. I had a feeling it wouldn’t actually go live to the public on the 6th
Glad you found the dimensions helpful!

The publication date has nothing to do with it, you just get a week after you enable timeline (as a a developer) to publish it.
